GSF Blog Hop Colour Challenge

Welcome to GSF (aka Global Stamping Friends) March Blog Hop. You may have just visited Anastasia Radloff's blog or perhaps you are starting your journey here. This month is a Colour Challenge featuring the colors Early Espresso, Island Indigo and Lemon Lime Twist. I hope you will enjoy the wonderful projects shared by Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the world.

Can I just say that when I saw this color combination, I was super excited. All of these colors are colors I love to use, but I had not thought to use them all together. It was also a chance to use an old favorite stamp set from the Annual Catalog as well as a new Sale-a-bration stamp set that I have been excited to try.

The first card I created features the wonderful photopolymer stamp set, No Bones About It (item #138756), from the Annual Catalog. I love using this stamp set for masculine cards and it has a wonderful variety of sentiments to go with the amazing images. This card was created using images from this stamp set alone, so I guess you can call it a "One Stamp Set Wonder".

The card base was created using Island Indigo cardstock and I layered a piece of Early Espresso cardstock to provide a nice contrast for the stamped Whisper White cardstock layer. I stamped a background using Island Indigo Classic ink for the vine image and Lemon Lime Twist Classic ink for the larger leaf image. The animal tracks were stamped with Early Espresso Classic ink and then I heat embossed the smaller dots image with Copper embossing powder for contrast.

The triceratops dinosaur image was stamped with Early Espresso for the bones and Lemon Lime Twist for the solid image. I really love the way these two colors contrast. I die cut the Whisper White cardstock with an oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies (item #141706) and layered onto a scalloped oval die cut from Early Espresso cardstock.

The sentiment was heat embossed with Gold embossing powder onto Early Espresso cardstock and punched out using the Tailored Tag Punch (item #145667). I love how this card turned out and the colors combine beautifully together for a fun birthday card.

My second card has more of a clean and simple design to it and I was excited to use the New Eclectic Expressions Sale-a-bration stamp set that was just released February 16th. You can earn this stamp set Free with a qualifying order of US$50 during Sale-a-bration, which ends March 31st.
For this card I decided to use the same layers as the first card, because I really liked the way they worked together. I used the watercolor look stamp images in Lemon Lime Twist Classic ink and Island Indigo Classic ink to create a background and then added a splatter look with the dots image stamped in Early Espresso.

This time I heat embossed the sentiment onto Island Indigo cardstock with Gold embossing powder and punched it out with the Tailored Tag Punch and then also punched out another tag from Early Espresso cardstock to create a shadow layer at the bottom. The Lemon Lime Twist Finely Woven Ribbon (item #144135) adds a splash of color and I finished it off with some Copper Sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment (item #144214) attached with Mini Glue Dots. This is another great masculine card design and would work well as a birthday card.

I hope you have enjoyed my cards today and I hope they help inspire you to try this color combination in your projects. 1. Great cards! I also thought about using the copper embossing powder...but I was too lazy to pull it out! Hahaha!!! It really gives the cards quite the oomph, though. Thanks for sharing :-D
